COURSE OUTLINE
WordPress isn’t just for blogging. It has fast become the tool of choice for individuals and businesses that want to take the horse by the reigns and maintain their own website. WordPress can be used as a Content Management System; this is a fancy technical term that you can throw around at your next cocktail party that simply refers to easy-to-use software that allows you to create and maintain a powerful website (and/or blog) for your business or personal use. It’s affordable (as in free), easy to install, and easy to use.

In this course, we’ll get a domain registered, hosting established, and WordPress installed in less than hour. Then we’ll spend a couple of hours learning how to get around. After that, it’s all strategy, Baby!

When class is over, you’ll have an operating website, the know-how to keep it updated, a plan to make it interesting, and a strategy to get traffic to it!

The benefits of a well planned and maintained blog/website for your business can include:

◦Increased search engine ranking
◦Positioning your (or your organization’s) expertise in your field
◦Customer/Client relationship development
◦Ability to market via education
◦Increased participation in your other Web 2.0 properties
◦Venue for providing value-added propositions to strategic partners
◦Repeated opportunity for non-profits to interact with donors
◦Branding

In order to achieve search engine optimization benefits, you blog must be built and maintained the right way. And, of course, if you build it, they won’t necessarily come. You must drive traffic to your blog.

In our Websites with WordPress class you will:

◦Discover the best way to establish your blog/website for search engine optimization
